Swap Meet Day!!!
Huzzah Hobbies, one of our local game stores,
hosted a swap meet for all the gamers in the area. There was a huge turnout and I saw quite a
few fully painted armies go for sale. I
brought an assortment of games and figures with me to sell and managed to do
both some cash sales and a few swaps. I
had really hoped someone would have taken my Battle Fleet Gothic stuff but I
never made the sale.
There were a few Warmachine/Hordes armies for sale
(Cryx, Circle, Mercs), and a lot of
Flames of War. What really surprised me and
didn’t surprise me at the same time was all
40K and WHFB figures up for sell. I have
always considered Northern Virginia a hot bed of GW activity considering the
number of GW stores in the local area.
Some of the stuff sold, but the shear amount of GW figs for sale really
was telling as to how far the mighty have fallen.
Here’s what I walked away with;
A full unit of Khador Widowmakers
A full unit of Khador Man-O-War Demolition Corps
(old metal ones)
A Khador man hunter
X2 Merc Ogrun Bokurs (not sure what I’m going to
do with them yet…
A Menoth Castigator Warjack
Both Menoth Paladins
A Knights Exemplar Seneschal
And a X-Wing starter box set still shrink wrapped
So what to do with all this new stuff? The Khador Widowmakers and Man Hunter were
painted, but not to the level I’d prefer.
I think I’ll use the paint jobs as a base coat and repaint and base them
to match my color scheme. The Man-O-war
figs will really fit in nicely into my eVlad army once I get them all painted
up.
Since my son is currently playing Menoth, those
figs will eventually find their way into his force. As soon as I can get the horrible paint job
stripped off then, I plan on painting them all up over the next few weeks and surprising
him with them. So don’t spill the
secret. LOL! Check back here for details on these figs......
Speaking of Menoth, since I’ve been painting
Khador like I fiend over the last six weeks, I’m going to take a bit of a break
and concentrate on Menoth and a few of my other projects.
Lastly, here are a few pics of something that
showed up in the mail this week….
A big shout out to Neal over at the War Store for
this buy. He and his team are great and
also have some really great prices.
I really like the newest version of Descent
Journeys in the Dark. I own almost all
the older product, but this newer version reminds me of all the things I used
to love about D&D. Basically, hack,
slash, and steel loot. It’s a great game
and even comes with a new campaign system to help you grow your characters.
