New
Warmachine League
Our
local meta’s new league started last night.
It was a fury of games being played.
I didn’t manage to get any pictures taken but managed to play three
great games with mixed reselts.
My
army list consisted of pVlad running two
Berserkers and Drago. It wasn’t the list
I wanted to take but I didn’t have a lot of choices since Khador seems to
struggle at lower points value lists especially if you don’t have a large
selection of models to choose from. In
the end I had to borrow two warjacks to fill out my list.
Overall
I wasn’t very happy with me my performance.
The
first game saw me paired against Cryx.
Since this was my game using death clocks, I got rushed and the turn I popped
my feat, I forgot to put focus on my Berserker closest to his warcaster. In the end he got me on a Mangled Metal win.
(Loss)
Second
game saw me pitted against Troll to include the Mountain King. My plan here was to avoid the king and go
after his catser. I spread my line out
and moved pVlad forward into a stand of trees about mid-way up the board. I forgot that the Mountian King has pathfinder,
and he went after Vlad. He stopped about
two inches away and used reach for a grand total of three points of damage. He then moved his caster up and went after
Drago who died in a serious beat down.
On my turn, I popped Blood of Kings, charged his caster (Vlad gets parry
so no free strike) and sliced him head to toe for the kill. (Win)
Last
game was against Everblight. Everblight is one of those armies I never
perform well against. This battle was a
slug fest. It came down to Vlad and Thagrosh slugging it out as time ran
down. In the end, Vlad had a bad roll
and didn’t kill Thagrosh by two points.
Thagrosh on the other hand got his five points needed and killed Vlad at
the buzzer.
All in all I was not
happy with my performance. I need to seriously
think about how I play Khador and not allow myself to get rushed. Normally I like the Khador gun line, but this
list is very aggressive and will need a bit of a different style.
The league rules
are posted below.
January
18th through March 1st 2013
Follows existing rules except for:
*Best Newly Painted League Model (must be fielded at least once in the JML; voted on by the participants at the end)
*Best Sportsman award (secret ballot for voting)
*High Value Target award: Given to the player who has suffered the most Caster Kills in the league.
* DEATHCLOCK! (reference above for same old way for me to lose)
*Scenarios will use SR 2013 beta rules - these will be available for perusal from me at LHC. Do note the Killbox is now 14 inches from any table edge AND if your caster is completely within 14 inches of the table edge, your opponent gets two control points. It is no longer an instant-lose condition.
And for our younger players:
Under-18 Journeyman League. This means UNDER 18, not 18 & under. If you are 18 on or before 18 Jan 2013, you may NOT play in the U-18 Journeyman. Please note that this is optional, not required for anyone under 18.
* Runs concurrently with the regular Journeyman League
* Can "play up" to the regular journeyman league
*No Deathclock
*Double Points for playing each other
*Models painted pre-League will still count
* There will be separate prizes
