WIP….Beast 09 Part 2
I hope everyone out there had a really good New
Years. Well it’s been a miserable
week. First week back to work after an
extended holiday is always tough. To top
it all off I think I may be catching a bit of a cold and so I’ve not even gone
near the painting table since Monday.
To continue where the last post left off, I got
the basic base together and painted.
Here are the results;
The paint job on the base was really simple. After priming the base black, I use a simple
dry brush technique to get the base up to the color I want. In this case the color I’m going for is
mud. I usually use craft paint bought at
the local arts and craft store. For the
base, I used in order Burnt Umber, Terra Cotta, and the Mustard Yellow.
After I achieved the color I wanted, I then dry
brushed the barbed wire and stakes with Reaper (R) Scorched Metal, followed by
(R) Blackened Steal, and then (R) Tarnished Steal.
Once I got all the paint on the base, it was time
to weather it. Using Micro Mark Dirty
Brown and Muddy Red weathering pigments, the bases color was brought right to
the point of looking like a great muddy morass.
It’s ok to get the powders on the barbed wire and stakes, because you
want them to look dirty as well.
Additionally, I added MIG light rust effects to the stakes and barbed
wire to give them an even further weathered look.
Next will be working on the model itself……
